A sad goodbye from John and Joy
Dear Friends
As many of you are now aware, we are closing Knit Together for good. For us, as for you, this is a very sad thing.
I want to stress that YOU (our customers and friends) are not the reason. Rather, the lack of ENOUGH customers, combined with too much space and thus too much overhead, is what finally is forcing us to close. Over the last 15 months or so, we have seen both the number of people coming in and the amount they are spending, drop by a combined 55%, while our rent continues to climb. This is just untenable, and our accountant told us so in no uncertain terms.
We have loved having you in the store, and particularly how so many of you have taken us under your wings. You have been real friends and we are better for having known you.
Joy and I hope that someone (soon!) will want to pick up the torch and start their own version of Knit Together. We will be glad to offer any help we can. You can reach me by email at johnATknittogetherDOTcom or johnATktogDOTcom for the forseeable future.
All our love and best wishes,
John and Joy

Hi Guys,
I visitied your store while on a trip from Maine a little over a year ago. At that time, I owned my own yarn shop that I was also forced to close in August of 2006. I am so sad for you and the good people of Stamford. It was a treasure. You had a knack for making those who came in feel welcome and special. A rarity in the business world these days. Best wishes to you all.

John, you were a good friend to the hockey newspaper Slapshot while it was in print, but at least you lasted longer than my paper did!
Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

As a fellow yarn shop owner, I'm very sad to see Knit Together come to a close. There's plenty of room in the world of knitting for a variety of sources, and can only imagine the disappointment you're all feeling. Please stop by nancy O in Ridgefield if you're in need of support, knitting companionship, or a yarn fix. more info at nancyoboutique.com.

I am so sad as I have never been to your store, only just discovering it today while looking online. I'm fairly new to Darien and would have been a loyal customer. Looks like it was a great store.
